We’ve been gathering and weaning over the past few weekends and I really love this time of year!  We keep the weaned calves in a large pen just below our house for few days for them to settle and get adjusted to life without their mom.  They also get spoiled with lots of alfalfa and “calf candy.”

I would like to introduce you to Milo. Milo is one of two Chihuahuas that I have had since college. He is my constant, fearless companion. He will follow me anywhere I let him … and that includes when I’m horseback.

Funny they don’t look like secret ninjas … but they are.

I know, right!? You wouldn’t believe it to look at these pretty, classic looking little Hereford heifers. They look serene and content from this distance. Sweet little girls standing quietly in the setting fall sun, enjoying the cool shade of the mesquite.

But it’s all an act! Do not be fooled by the long flirty eyelashes and their slow ambling ways. Under the correct conditions these heifers unleash with cat-like reflexes and ninja skills. You’re just standing there, minding your own …
