Update: I Do Not Abuse My Dog

You may remember a few days ago when I introduced you to my lovable, goof of a black lab Miller.  Did I tell you that the boss’ son calls him “Scuba Steve?”  Ah, well that’s another story  

While the bunny and the swelling are gone, Miller did not escape usncathed.

The cowboy’s been putting a healthy glop of Corona cream on there to speed the healing process along … mostly because I think he’s embarrassed to take poor Miller on any truck trips where people might see him.

Have I mentioned I was home alone this past weekend?  The Cowboy was out in the wilderness, enjoying quite a bit of fresh fallen snow on his elk hunt and I was alone on the range.  He left Friday and that night temperatures plunged to frigid (by southern New Mexico standards) in the upper teens.  So, first thing Saturday morning there was no running water.                                                                                                                                                              
Being from the arctic north I was not daunted.  I layered on my warm clothes and headed out to the pump house to diagnose the situation. …

Meet Miller

For an otherwise respectable ranching operation, we have a pretty motley pack of dogs comprised of a Labrador Retriever, a Red Heeler, an Australian Shepard1 and two Chihuahuas (“Tell me which one doesn’t belong … la la la”). 
This is part of the reason the Cowboy has imposed a Critter Limit, but that’s a separate subject entirely, to be visited at some other time.
