Ranch Huas

There is much debate about the origin of the Chihuahua – and I honestly know nothing difinitive regarding the matter.  What I do know is that Chihuahuas are extremely amendable to life on a ranch!  I’m quite sure they think they’ve fallen down a rabbit hole into a magical world of puppy dreams full of small vermin to chase, stinky things to roll around in and even the occasional hoof trimming delicacy.

‘Tis the Season

 
The coldest days of winter are behind us now in southern New Mexico and with longer days and warmer temperatures comes the most precious of times on a ranch … it’s calving season.  Not to romanticize the whole thing too much – this time of year is also synonymous with long hours often stretching late into the night, many hours in the saddle checking cows and the occasional need for an assisted birth.  Still … I love calves!

For Now

I went away this weekend to have some much needed girlfriend time in the big city.  We celebrated my recent birthday in the only way we know how, by drinking way too much wine over dinner at the Melting Pot (can I get an Amen!?).
