We’ve been gathering and weaning over the past few weekends and I really love this time of year!  We keep the weaned calves in a large pen just below our house for few days for them to settle and get adjusted to life without their mom.  They also get spoiled with lots of alfalfa and “calf candy.”

Regardless of how nice we try and make it there is a lot of crying … all night long.  So, I thought I’d share with you the early morning sounds as heard from my porch on Monday morning.  Now, imagine this about ten times louder and for about 10 hours instead of 10 seconds   Welcome to the morning after weaning!
