…or maybe you are a cowboy?  If so this post is for you!

It’s dove season folks!  Is there a dove season where you live?  I never imagined that people would hunt doves … for a number of reasons, really. 

I mean, they are tiny and they are doves.  Doves are the symbol of all that is peaceful and good.  Unless of course they are non-native species, then they are evil, and there is no limit on the number you may remove from the habitat.

Actually, doves can be very tasty and so (without any permission) I will share with you a recipe for tasty little Cowboy Hors d’oeuvres … featuring dove!

Take the dove breast (you only use the breast … because, honestly, that’s about all there is to a dove) and fillet it, then place in the middle sliced jalapeños or green chile with a little cube of cheddar cheese, now loosely wrap a piece of bacon around the entire morsel and secure with a round toothpick.  Next, dip the whole thing in a bowl of your favorite barbecue sauce and place on the grill.  It doesn’t take too long, apply additional barbecue sauce as needed.  Once the bacon is crisp you are good to go – enjoy!

Not that you need another reason to justify the indiscriminate eradication of non-native, peace-loving, birds … no other reason than the joy that it brings to these mighty hunters.
